Volunteering Abroad for Teens

Hassle-free overseas volunteer adventures for teenagers

Our trips are the perfect way to spend your school holidays.

Join a group of other participants aged 15 to 18 from around the world and make lifelong friendships, all while having the 24/7 support from our staff.

On our volunteer opportunities for teens, you can expect:

  • A fully-supervised programme from arrival to departure.
  • Support from our staff who help everyone settle in, even if it’s your first time abroad alone (which is true for 73% of our teen travellers).
  • The company of other teen volunteers who you’ll get to know through projects, cultural activities, and excursions.
  • Fixed start and end dates. You’ll follow a set itinerary, offering a structure that suits school students.
  • A certificate of completion and reference letter on request.
  • One price for everything—meals, accommodation, and more—you just need to pay for flights, insurance, and any visas / vaccinations.

Our Teen Programmes provide experiential education while making a positive impact in communities.

You could help children learn through play, conduct research on a safari, or gain medical work experience in hospitals.

I really did feel like my volunteering in Kenya had a small impact on something greater, but I would be so happy if the impact I made was even a tiny fraction as big as the impact Kenya had on me.

Patrick M

Our afternoon work also produced satisfying results, as we transformed a brown and dusty hillside into a colourful area where kids can learn and play.

Jessica P

I loved spending time at the placement and it was great to get to know the teachers and all the students. Also, to see the impact we had on them over the two weeks with their English improving and the childcare centre looking a lot more decorated.

Charlotte M

Overall, my trip was an unforgettable experience, and inspired me and, I think, everybody in our team to volunteer again.

Ollie S

I decided to volunteer with Projects Abroad in Ghana as it was a perfect opportunity to combine my love and passion for sport with a desire I have had for some time to explore Africa.

Sarah K

When my departure date arrived, I didn’t want to leave and I still frequently think fondly of my time there. If you love animals, care for the environment, are eager to learn new things, and aren’t afraid to get dirty, then this project is definitely for you!

Alisa K

The hardest part was definitely to leave. I miss every single part of Kenya, the volunteers, staff members and the joyful local people, to whom I grew very attached to. It makes me want to continue volunteering and reinforced my love to travel. Thank you, Projects Abroad, for such good memories and for making my dream come true.

As someone looking to study politics in the future, I knew this programme would be a great fit, but I had no idea just how amazing the experience would turn out to be.

Philippa E

I chose to go to Argentina on the Human Rights & Spanish programme because of my keenness to explore Latin American and my passion for human rights.

Ever since I can remember, I have always been an environmental activist. (…) So when I found Projects Abroad, I knew it’d be perfect for me.

Heidi M

I am impressed by the professionalism and support Projects Abroad staff members offer. (…) I appreciate the attentiveness staff members provided during my stay in South Africa. They made sure I was safe and satisfied at all times.

Dinasha P

Nepalese doctors and surgeons go out of their way to educate you, to listen to you, to speak to you and inspire you.

Kimberley M

Nurses and doctors treated patients in such a caring, compassionate way and were very willing to explain what each patient’s issue was and what they were doing for them.

Adam O

If you get the opportunity to go on one of these trips, seize it, as it will open your eyes to a whole world full of experiences that you just can’t see from the comfort of your home.

Ramya B

Doctors and local people were kind enough to talk to us about diseases, practice CPR with us, teach us how to suture and discuss overall health in Peru with us. Every day, I looked forward to getting involved.

Elizabeth M

The medical placement and experiences I was given were invaluable. I would strongly recommend it to anyone willing to learn and experience what the world has to give us!

Joy I

As an aspiring surgeon, I was bound to be excited by a surgery workshop, so when we were each handed our own dead chicken and taught several different stitches to use on them, I loved it

Eve M

I would recommend doing a High School Special to anyone, there is so much you are able to achieve in a two week period.

Erica S

This trip made me more excited to be in the medical field.

Jessica P

I knew the people I would meet would have exactly the same mind-set as me, and they definitely did!

Nina R

From the moment I arrived, I could hardly contain my excitement. As I stepped off the plane, the Projects Abroad team greeted me. Being the first to arrive out of the volunteers, I sat restlessly in awe at the fact that I travelled all the way to Fiji on my own. Despite my parents initial apprehension of the distance, all the help from my volunteer advisor in the weeks before made getting to Fiji a breeze.
