Overview
While we offer a flexible trip duration, here’s a sample itinerary showcasing an exciting two-week adventure in Tanzania.
Week one
Your journey begins in Kilimanjaro. Settle into your accommodation before exploring the local area and learning about the local culture through a Swahili language lesson and a cross-cultural workshop. You’ll also be formally welcomed into Tanzania with a traditional meal.
Throughout the week, you’ll engage in various activities designed to broaden your understanding of Tanzania. Learn about women’s empowerment and the fight for gender equality and economic independence, as well as the complex realities faced by women and girls in Tanzania and the work being done towards a solution.
Spending time with the Maasai community, you’ll also engage in local initiatives at the Maasai school, participating in school activities and bettering your understanding of the community’s challenges, successes, and future plans. You’ll also have time in the evenings to take part in traditional drumming and dancing lessons.
On the weekend, you’ll explore the tranquil landscapes of Tanzania. Hike to the beautiful Materuni waterfalls and if you’re brave enough, take a dip in the cold water flowing down from Mount Kilimanjaro. You’ll also visit a coffee plantation, and relax in the warm, rejuvenating waters of Kikuletwa hot springs. The perfect end to your first week.
Week two
You’ll continue to support the Maasai community by volunteering in a school and participating in cultural activities.
Continue to deepen your understanding of Maasai traditions and social structures when you spend a day at the nomadic Meserani village. Here, you will learn about daily life and the impact of the environment and climate change on their lifestyle. Take the time to explore local markets and find the perfect souvenirs for yourself and your loved ones, and enjoy a farewell dinner with your group and reflect on your time in Tanzania.
Round off your trip with a walk on the wild side as you embark on unforgettable safari adventures at both Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to witness wildlife in its natural habitat including lions, giraffes, rhinos, elephants, and more.
Heading home the following day is bittersweet, but the memories you’ve made in Tanzania will last a lifetime. As you board your flight, know you’re always welcome back.
