Map & Location
The birthplace of philosophy, science, and western civilisation, and home to the most archaeological museums in the world, Greece is a historian’s dream. It isn’t just history in abundance, though — there’s something for everyone.

Sail through stunning turquoise waters, explore ancient ruins and charming villages, and enjoy delicious cuisine on sun-kissed terraces. Greece is safe and popular with tourists, and you will experience the unique warmth of Greek hospitality, known as “philoxenia” (friends with strangers).

Athens

The historic capital of Greece, Athens, is the template for a city that embraces both past and future. Home to 660,000 people, Athens sprawls across the Attica basin, surrounded by mountains and the Aegean Sea, with a pleasant mediterranean climate.

The iconic Acropolis is permanently visible from all over the city, a testament to its ancient glory. Sights of its rich history are visible everywhere you go, from charming shopfronts, a variety of interesting museums, and enchanting temple ruins.

Food & Accommodation

Relax in a modern and convenient apartment in the heart of Athens. All our apartments are located in safe neighbourhoods within 30 minutes of the hospitals you’ll be working at, with your transport to and from your placement handled by our staff.

Housing one to four travellers, your apartment will have all the amenities you expect, including Wi-Fi and air conditioning. This will give you a comfortable living space to unwind and connect with fellow participants or as a central base for your exploration of the city.

Meals are not included in the price for this project, giving you the flexibility to choose where and what you’d like to eat. This is a great opportunity to explore local dining spots and enjoy authentic Greek cuisine at your own pace. If you’d like some recommendations, our local staff are the experts!

Free Time and Leisure

Volunteering or interning in Greece is a great way to explore this beautiful, Mediterranean nation. Our projects are based in the capital of Athens, meaning you are spoiled for choice with things to do in your spare time.

Greek mythology is more than just a story here, and the ancient city is home to several incredible landmarks and ruins dating back around 2,500 years. Wander through the larges of these, the Acropolis, a hilltop citadel forever overlooking the city.

If history isn’t your thing, indulge in one of the greatest cuisines in the world with incredible restaurants on every corner. Or, stroll through pedestrianised neighbourhoods with charming artisan shops and head to the beautiful coastline to rest.

Usually, there will be other volunteers and interns there during your trip. That gives you the flexibility to explore solo or connect with your fellow travellers.
