Map & Location
Be swept up in the spirit of Spain, where siesta culture is deeply ingrained and flamenco echoes through cobbled streets. Located in western Europe, bordering France and Portugal, Spain has more bars per person than any other country.

Home to sun-kissed coastlines, the oldest restaurant in the world, and the third-most UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Spain has something for everyone. It is safe, welcoming, and a hugely popular tourist destination, with some of the best beaches in Europe.

Valencia

Less than four hours east of Madrid lies a hidden gem, renowned for its stunning architecture and incredible coastline. Valencia has a population of about 800,000 and a Mediterranean climate with warm, sunny weather for much of the year.

Wander through charming narrow streets and lively plazas, marvel at buildings like Valencia Cathedral dating back more than 600 years, and browse fascinating museums covering the city’s rich history. It is a coastal paradise just waiting to be explored.

Food & Accommodation

Feel right at home with everything you need for an incredible, stress-free experience in the Spanish sun. We ensure that you can rest in a comfortable bed, enjoy three home-cooked meals a day, and have easy access to fresh drinking water.

You’ll be welcomed with open arms and feel like a local, living with a carefully vetted host family in Valencia with other Projects Abroad participants. We will handle your daily transport to and from your placement, taking another little worry off the list.

Your host family home will be clean, safe, and secure, and if you share a room with another traveller, they will be of the same gender and approximate age. This gives you the chance to enjoy a global experience together, share your culture, and leave with new perspectives.

Free Time and Leisure

Experience Valencia like a local, exploring the city’s captivating, historic heart and the Jardin del Turia, the stretch of green parkland cutting all the way through the city.

Relax on the stunning Mediterranean coastline with pristine sand beaches or get involved in a variety of water sports available in the marina, like paddleboarding, catamaran rides, jet skiing, and more.

Valencia has a fantastic public transport system, making it really easy to get wherever you want to go. Alternatively, take a weekend escape to Madrid, Barcelona, or the Balearic Islands and experience more of what Spain has to offer.

But it’s not just about sightseeing; you’ll connect with local students and fellow interns at regular social events, including paella cooking classes and fiery flamenco shows. This gives you the flexibility to explore solo or as a group!

Your Arrival Made Easy
